「クマ」と聞いて人々がイメージするのは、キャラクターにされると身近で可愛らしい・愛くるしいものにもかかわらず、実際の「熊」を想像すると、鋭い爪や牙を持ち、獰猛で生態系の中でもトップに君臨し、堂々たる姿は神格化され、森の主と崇められたりしています。動物の中でも、特にクマにはこの二極化なイメージを持つ人が多いでしょう。本作品では、そんなキャラクターとリアルの中間的なイメージを作品に表現しています。
このクマは高さが約3メートルもあり、三沢作品のなかでも大きな作品になります。ここでは台座にも乗っているので、より大きく感じる人も多いのではないでしょうか。二足で立つ姿は威嚇するポーズであり、他の動物にはない実にクマらしい人間のような象徴的なポーズでもあります。
様々な目的で大都会を行き交う人々を決して威嚇することなく、高いところから空間全体を眺めています。皆さんにはその表情がどんな風にみえますか？
たまに目を合わせてみてあげてください。クマはいつもそこにいます。

People think of a “bear” as a character that is familiar, cute, and lovely, but when you imagine an actual “bear,” it has sharp claws and fangs, and is ferocious and ecological. Among them, it reigns at the top, and its majestic appearance is deified and worshiped as the lord of the forest. Among animals, bears in particular will have this polarized image. In this work, an intermediate image between such a character and the real is expressed in the work.
This bear is about 3 meters high and is one of the largest works in Misawa. Since it is also on the pedestal here, many people may feel it bigger. The figure standing on two legs is a menacing pose, and it is also a symbolic pose like a human being like a bear that other animals do not have.
We look at the entire space from a high place without threatening people who come and go in the big city for various purposes. How does that look to you.
Please make eye contact once in a while. The bear is always there.
