Shikata’s work has a geometric form characterized by rational thinking of Western Europe centered on vertical and horizontal, but after studying abroad it has an organic curved surface and Oriental thought as a Japanese It was adopted, and it changed to a work which is seen as duality.
This work is one of the “Cosmic” series which was produced several years after returning home, and the two vertically extending pillars are connected while curving. Shikata also draws beautiful straight and curved works using brush eyes in ink paintings and the like in planning works, but it is an expression of Japanese ancient water, its stroke is also applied to this work, more heavy It brings a feeling.
