SPIRAL.UQ SPIRAL.UQ

Osamu Kido Production in 2017 (stainless steel)

Kippo works can be divided into three periods from the initial work to the present. Early works changed from 2 – dimensional to 3 – dimensional, in the 2 nd period spiral elements were added there, and from the latter half of the 1980’s until the present, the shape of the spiral itself is the theme.
In order to create a beautiful spiral shape in three-dimensional space, I draw it by handwriting based on SIN curve (sine curve, sine wave) with a precise calculation formula (Currently I’m calculating mathematical expressions with my own program) The writer himself expresses it as ‘drawing by number’. Twisting of its helix Complex and regular mathematical expressions draw beautiful curved surfaces with polished stainless steel, and the sky and surrounding scenery reflected on the mirror surface seems symbiotic with works and the environment.
This work is a work that can be said to be a culmination of the past, especially the structure is complicated especially in the series. Although it is a spiral shape with regularity from the front, as you gradually turn your line of sight sideways, the helix is twisted and complicated intricately aggregated body that you notice that its form consists of spheres.
