the Garden(屋根裏の庭) the Garden (Attic garden)

Osamu Kokufu production in 2011 (steel,soil,plant,plant seeds,etc.)

The first presentation of this work was entitled “The garden in the attic” because the exhibition place was an attic in a group exhibition in Venice in 2011. The following year, the work was exhibited at Axel Vervoordt’s viewing room (Wine augem, Belgium), it is called “the Garden” and “Kokufu’s installation”, and it seems that the title was changed by the exhibition environment.
In this exhibition, we also gathered the wishes of the bereaved family, and in consideration of this environment, we made the title “the Garden (Attic Garden)” and reconstructed the work.
We have a parabolic antenna as a garden, planting the earth and plants of the place to display. What already grows in the ground before implantation, what life and seed the birds and wind dropped from being exhibited in the middle of the story, what kind of stories will we spin over here?

The parabolic antenna looks like a plate when facing up. I filled it with soil and planted plants. The land that floats in the air, supported by industrial steel frames, is like a garden that has been cut off from the ground by something. I felt that cutting out nature was the beginning of the act of human beings building civilization on the ground that originally existed.
