恋人たち The Lovers

バーナード・メドウズは、ヘンリー・ムーアの助手を務めていたこともあり、丸みを帯びた造形は師の影響を思わせます。
「恋人たち」は、題名からも官能的なかたちの生き物を連想させる作品です。本体にあいている小さな穴は目のようにも見え、表面が鏡面のため周りの世界が映り込むので、外側から鑑賞しているのではなく、逆に作品の内側から私たちが覗かれているような感覚を覚えます。

“The Lovers” is a work reminiscent of a sensual form of creatures from the title. A small hole in the main body looks like an eye and the surrounding world is reflected because the surface is a mirror surface so we are not viewing from the outside but conversely from the inside of the work being peeped inside I feel like.
